Whats the compression? |

Anyone take a compression reading lately? Whats the normal compression reading for a 79 or 80 CB750?
I'm working on one that runs very strong, doesn't smoke and uses no oil but a routine compression check says it only had 75-80 # compression. Bad gauge possibly?

The Honda Shop Manual says it's supposed to be 170 psi ±14.
They'll run down to 100 psi, but much lower than that and they get pretty bad. I'd suspect your gauge. You check it with the choke off and the throttle wide open?

Ok did it with the throttle open. What a dumbass. Came up to 110 cold with just 1 plug out. Should be a bit higher hot with the all out.
Still not bad for an engine that sat in a field for 13 years. Thanks Genesound.
