i was going to go for a ride tonight with some buddies, but i didn't. they left me behind and went down to timms hill, the highest point in wisconsin. it's beautiful country and a great ride that i've been looking forward to all year, but when i started the bike the oil pressure light wouldn't go out. it usually goes out within a second. the light would get dimmer though, and if i wiggled the wires around i could get it to go out completely. the light is not the stock bulb, it's a led that i made from parts i got at radio shack. it's mounted next to the neutral light which is made and mounted exactly the same way. now, the neutral light took a shit a couple of weeks ago and i didn't think much of it because really, who cares?
i'm thinking that it's just a short in the ground wiring near the light since it dims out some after the bike starts and wiggling the wires can turn it off. unless the wiggling causes the hot lead to come loose. wouldn't i be blowing a fuse if the hot lead was shorting? i guess i don't really understand how that pressure switch works. would the light be dimmer with mediocre oil pressure if the switch and electrical system is functioning properly? any thoughts?
the bike is at my buddies place now. i'll be looking further into this tomorrow afternoon. if it turns out not to be an electrical issue, where should i look next?
