Beautiful. If the one given to me had any potential to have looked like that without costing me my first born I'd have done it in a heartbeat.
80 750F and 82 750C. Yes I have a Harley too, and they will all be jockey shifted like my HD. America... Love it or get the F out

thanks a lot, man. now i feel bad about what i did to mine. your bike is beautiful. i can't stop staring at that picture. until very recently i've been of the mindset; "stock sucks. cut that thing up." i've now grown quite fond of these bikes in their stock form, especially the f model and the holy grail, the allmighty cbx. this bike is a prime example of why the guys at the other sites won't talk to us. we are mutilating their babies. do you have any pics of this bike before the restoration? |

Well pipedope, I agree this bike is really well done and I would certainly ride it. But make no mistake, chopping and making it your own is another whole deal.
No really comparable on any measure. What you get from your own built chop will never be gotten from a rebuild. Chopping is much more like art, self expression
baby.
I'd never compare the two. Kinda like saying this apple tastes better than that orange. Either one can be ripe and delicious or green and bitter.

I agree with J, can't compare the two art forms any more than you can compare a t-bucket street rod to a fully restored T. We all love them both. I love
keeping my c model as close to stock as I can but don't think for a minute that if I ran across another that I wouldn't be able to chop it up and never
loose a bit of sleep but rather look forward to what comes next. Your bike is just as cool as his but for different reasons and you got a one off!

believe me, i know what you guys are talking about. i certainly do not believe that a stock bike is "better" than a chopper or vice versa, and i never meant to imply that i did. i guess i was just trying to express my appreciation of these bikes and show why i understand why the stock/performance enthusiasts don't like the idea of changing something that is indeed nearly perfect as is. i purchased my cb with the intention of building a chopper. i thought the bike was horribly ugly when i got it. i never considered a restoration, i wanted a chopper and if i'd wanted a stock bike it certainly would not have been an 81cb750k. but now after all of the time i've spent on my bike, i'm hooked on these deuces. i truly love everything about them and would proudly ride a bike like polymers or da pig. |

In a whole lot of ways the stock bikes are better than chops or bobs. They have been engineered and blue printed.I say this as a guy that likes and rides chops
and bobs .If it were a perfect world i would have a stock and a chop in the garage.

Stock bikes may have been engineered, but keep in mind that a lot of ideas that companies now use came from innovative people modifying their stock vehicles.
Composite fenders, fuel injection, water injection, etc are just some of the ideas that didn't come from the R&D department of some car companies. My
bike runs better than when it was stock. There are purists out there who will say that it's impossible, but I don't care. I know what I know. I've
owned that bike since 1986 so I think I should know what it will and will not do. Are some ideas failures? Sure, but there's been plenty of mass produced
failures. I appreciate really clean stock bikes, and hate it when somebody cuts one up to chop it. My self, I would like to find a really clean stock 81 750 C
that is the same colors my chopper was so I can have a rolling before and after, But is the stock better than my chopper? That is like beauty...it's in the
eyes of the beholder.

Did not mean to imply that custom bikes are not as good{mine is to}just that most stock bikes have been tested and found to be reliable. And yes many things
that are on bikes now and a lot of other things also are there because someone proved it was good to have .Like nuts in a chocolate bar.

Hi Guys, I like stock bikes also, but if there was a stock bike and a chopper parked next to each other. I would look at the chopper first to see the ideas and
the workmanship. We are all different and that is what makes this world.

For me there is still that one BIG ISSUE!
When the bike has been built one off, there is never another like it!!!!! Whooo hooooo Chop On mfers! Same reason why Swiff has a one off now. Cool ain't it?

doehoe1 wrote: I've had my share of choppers in my youth and I've never seen a bike I didn't like but I always wanted a DOHC F model and when I had an opportunity to trade a Triumph Trident side cover and speedo gear for this Honda I jumped on it so basically I bought it for $135.00 which is what I had in the Triumph parts. Here is the ugly pix when I got it home on the trailer and one from a car show a week from last Saturday. Got a cheap plastic trophy but it was still cool. Note the paint isn't even cut and buffed yet. It is straight out of the gun.

Damn Dude! You an Okie too! Really cool that you took the time and effort to restore that bike. Takes lots of time patience and money to do something like
that. In many ways I'm not so sure that it isn't alot harder than choppin. Really a nice job.
