Well, I finally found the interface cord for the camera and got the pics loaded to photobucket.
So instead of my new work, I bring to you my old work that never got posted!
As you may remember, I have these welded on solid turned foot pegs that I really wanted to try and work with rather than cutting them completely off. They do not stick out far enough for an inline four let alone six since this frame was orginally set up for V-twin. Here is the starting point.
After deciding to shave the Chopper Inc throttle grip to match the left grip (make them into pegs) I needed to figure out a way to mount them. They are aluminum so simply welding on won't work. Besides, I plan to powder the frame so I need them to bolt on after the coat. I like the idea of having the turned welded on portion to stay and get powdered with the frame adding one more level of subtle detail that will come out in the final product. Here is how my non-educated engineering design goes. Don't laugh, its the best I could come up with given the low skill level and the use of hand tools only. The grip plus the entire welded on peg is slightly too wide so I do need to trim down the welded piece slightly. Then I "turned" one of the raised portions down to the core by hand by spinning the angle grinder round and round! Whoooo hoooo! PITA! But by creating this "insert portion" of the peg, it will allow me to slide the grip over a portion of the welded on foot peg and have much more support than just bolting on to the outer edge.
You can see I drilled first a small hole, followed by a larger hole into the end of the peg. Then tap the hole for threads. This will allow me to thread a bolt into the welded peg which could reach out into the aluminum grip and give extended support from within. The bolt head is smaller than the one inch inside diameter of the grip so I need a way to make it fit tight inside. So I took a larger than one inch nut and rounded it down to fit exactly the inside diameter of the grip. Then I rounded the head of the bolt on a taper to fit the inside of the nut. Weld them together and voila! Instant inside support extended all the way into the grip end! Kind of redneck engineering I know, but hell, if I can do it and it works, why not?
SO, to hold the grip onto the welded peg I'll use set screws like the ones already on the left grip. Of course I will need to drill hole for set screws on the outside edge as well that can reach through to the rounded nut. And then duplicate that for both sides of the bike. Easy peasy lemon squeezy, right? Well, on paper atleast!
There is a highway peg mount that attached to the motor but resides just above the welded on peg. I plan to use this as my pivot point for the shift and brake levers on each side. I made a sleeve from some tube onto which I will weld my levers and linkages. I will need to bend the twisted one for the proper postioning of the shifter and I have just shown you the brake pedal on the shifter side so you can see what it will look like but obviously in reverse on the right side of the bike.
I'll post this and then make another post for the next part.

So in the next part I needed to fulfill all of the gas tank ideas. After a fair amount of shopping I came up with more copper accents and a sort of
"nuclear reactor" kind of look to the deal. I found a copper sleeve that will fit the filler tube that is threaded. But there was no threaded copper
cap at the joint where I was shopping that is big enough. So I purchased a galvanized cap. I think I covered this earlier? Its nice and smooth now and can be
painted black. I forgot to take a pic before starting but there is a pic before the top was done to give you an idea how rough and ugly it was beforehand.
I also got the runners cut for the pipes. I found some 45 degree copper turnouts for the ends. I plan to run them side-by-side three wide along the sides of the bike. It does sort of look goofy at first but after taking some looks, I began to like it. I will stagger the turnouts at the end so that the one running closest to the frame is longest then one slightly shorter than the next going outward. For these pics they are all still the same length.
So thats whats been going on at the shop. I have fallen behind a bit lately because of life, but I plan to get back going here this week. Stay tuned for more. Sorry for the lengthy posts but I want to use the thread as my own "story build" to save when I'm done.

Sorry, since its sohc I didn't post my work here so it looks like I just stopped, but in fact just been working on another bike.

Time to work on this thing again. I'll be at the shop this weekend deciding whether what I have done so far is gonna stay or get redone. Most of it is
still good to go. I am rethinking the seat a bit though. I'd really like to get the valve cover installed so I can wire the bike for a fire up. Gonna need
to weld up the pipes with finished welds for that. I think if I can hear it run it will be all I need to get submerged enough to see it though.
Watch for pics. Video if we are lucky!

I just got an issue of The Horse Backstreet Choppers Magizine and those guys building in there remind me a lot of you.All custom industrial looking bikes that
blow your mind on how they build them up.I think it may be the best motorcycle read out there.Think i will get a subscription. You should consider getting them
to do an artical on yours when it is done.
